    Microprocessor 8085

Microcontrollers and Microprocessors are used as controlling components in all types of modern electronic devices. Most people think controllers and processors are a same thing but that's not the case.

Microprocessor is the central processing unit in a computer. Microprocessor will require lots of other ICs around it (like ROM, RAM and timers). Microprocessors are used to handle a set of tasks that control one or more external events or systems. The computer you are using to read this webpage uses a microprocessor to do its work.

Microcontroller is like a computer inside a single chip. A microcontroller has all necessary parts (CPU, ROM, RAM, timers) integrated inside one IC unlike microprocessor.

A microcontroller is a specialized form of microprocessor.  It is a device which integrates a number of the components of a microprocessor system onto a single microchip.
Microcontrollers are used in microwaves, automotive applications, controlling led signs & digital led clocks.

e.g of Microprocessor is 8085 Microprocessor

The 8085 microprocessor family can address 64K bytes of memory which is used for both code space and data space.

Memory is accessed by 20 pins. 8 address high pins and 8 pins are used both for the 8 address low signals and for the 8 data signals.4 pins are used for control purpose.

e.g of Microcontroller is 8051 Microcontroller

Main features of 8051 Microcontroller are :

    RAM-128 bytes, ROM-4K bytes, Timer-2, I/O pins-32, Serial port, Interrupt sources.

Internal RAM locations 20-2FH are both byte-addressable and bit addressable. Out of 128 bytes of Internal RAM only 16 bytes of it are bit addressable.
